This Christian Dior neon pink coat and tailored short set is from the Spring/Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection, designed under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri. Chiuri drew inspiration from Marc Bohan’s 1961 “Slim Look,” known for its straight, minimalist, refined silhouette and emphasis on lightness, freedom of movement, and casual elegance. The set also references the 1960s Pop Art movement, with an infusion of athletic nonchalance that brings a modern “sporty meets sophisticated” feel to mid-century structural tailoring. The satin blend gives the vivid neon pink fabric a structured shape and luminous, semi-reflective sheen. The mid-length coat features clean raglan sleeves, a traditional pointed collar, four large matching fabric-covered buttons at the front, and two oversized, functional rounded patch pockets at the hips. Its unlined interior makes it a lighter, more fluid spring layering piece, while a single ventilation slit at the lower back allows ease of movement. The high-waisted shorts have a structured aesthetic that echoes the coat’s clean tailoring.
